Roland Biemans started his career as a graphic designer when analogue pre-press turned digital. With a bachelor’s degree in electronic technical design and digital graphic design, Biemans worked for companies focusing on sign making, direct marketing, industrial design, printing and advertising. In the years leading to his current position, Biemans played an important role at different companies adapting and transforming technology for the development of innovative practical solutions. Among these solutions were the first refill sets and bulk ink systems for large format inkjet printers, edible ink, media winding systems, software for controlling engravers, routers and cutters and an award-winning contract proofing software. Most of his time was dedicated to the development and sales of software for color correction, color separation, proofing, photo editing and driving inkjet printers in the sign, banner and color reproduction industry. Biemans initiated the digital textile print competence center in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, where media manufacturers, color management specialists, workflow automation experts and others were represented with their solutions in a real life production environment.

Early 2013, Biemans became board member of the European Specialist Printing Manufacturers Association, with a focus on supporting the textile and interior print committee. The Specialist Graphic Imaging Association awarded Biemans with the outstanding service award in recognition of his effort in advancing the industry and its association.

Roland Biemans has held the position of marketing director at Kiian Digital, part of the Kiian Group, throughout 2014. In this role, Biemans lead the company’s global marketing strategy for its digital inks business. This included the development of the Kiian Digital brand, while increasing the visibility, value and global reach of the business.

Prior to working for Kiian Digital, Biemans was responsible for the marketing and communication at Eindhoven-based Hollanders Printing Systems. This post also saw him assume responsibility for commercial operations, including the successful launches of new print technology products into the growing digital textile sector.

Biemans has a strong affinity with applied technology, whether it be for his work in the visual communications industry or for his hobbies photography, film and music. His approach is one of practical and pragmatic development: Technology has to offer a practical solution for the application it was designed for. Today, he is applying that same approach as an independent advisor on new business development activities.
