Re-thinking printing for the circular economy

The Future Skills Theatre
Future Skills Seminars
The circular economy is gaining ground with governments, global businesses and disruptive start-ups: as a better way to design business models, products and services. Our traditional 'linear' economy (take some materials, make a product, use it and then discard it) is inefficient, with waste, pollution and degradation all along the supply chain. Increasingly, consumers and politicians are pressing for action on issues including plastic waste, toxic chemicals and deforestation. The circular economy is much more than resource-efficiency and increased recycling, offering ways to decouple economic growth from resource consumption and environmental degradation. It provides opportunities to reduce costs, create new value streams, reduce risk and increase resilience. Relevant to business leaders, procurement professionals and operations teams, Catherine's talk will include a quick primer on the circular economy, how it is relevant to the print sector, materials, technologies, product and process design, alternative business models and practical tips on how to get started.
