Design Challenge Runners-Up

IPEX 2017 Advert Design Challenge: Runners-Up

IPEX invited students and apprentices from print and the graphic arts to design a visitor advertisement to promote attendance to IPEX 2017.

Competition was tough and the standard of entries was extremely high, and the IPEX team would like to thank all who entered from all over the world, for their effort, participation, and excellent designs!

We are pleased to introduce our prize-winning runners-up, whose designs are currently appearing in the national and international trade press.

Please read the rationales provided by each runner-up below. You can enlarge each design by clicking on the thumbnails. You can also see the design brief here.

The Runners-Up:

Mariana Pereira

Mariana Pereira finalist"For the design, I started by researching about printers and how they work. I also looked at CMYK images and designs. I thought about how printers print in lines and created four lines, each with the CMYK colour to create the word IPEX. To frame the word, I used a blue box which is supposed to represent a printer that looks like the colours are coming out of it to create the information about the event."

Simion Suciu

Simion Suciu finalist"If I need too many words to explain my design, probably it's not a good one, so in few words: print in action - action hero 'Paper/Printer Man', coloured in CMYK."

Tom Anderson

Tom Anderson finalist"The inspiration for my design was the key phrase ‘Print in Action’. I wished to illustrate the rapid mechanical process of modern day printing by creating a playful world based on what stages go on inside the printer."
